Minor Requirements
The Digital Humanities minor introduces students to critical and creative approaches to culture, data, media, and technology through interdisciplinary, project-based coursework. Designed to complement majors across UCLA, the minor helps students bring digital methods and humanistic questions into conversation with their primary fields of study.
Students shape the minor around their interests, whether they work in literature, history, media studies, information studies, the arts, social sciences, STEM fields, or other areas of inquiry.
Students enter the minor with a variety of technical backgrounds, and no prior technical experience is required.
Requirements
Students complete:
- one approved lower-division elective
- DH 101: Introduction to Digital Humanities
- one upper-division DH course selected from DH 110–160
- four upper-division electives selected from DH courses and approved electives across campus
Coursework across the minor allows students to focus their studies on specific methods, topics, and questions, from mapping and archives to data visualization, social media, AI, and digital culture.

Students can identify electives by:
- Reviewing the approved electives list
- Checking the UCLA course schedule for upcoming offerings
- Selecting courses that align with their interests and goals
Application Timeline:
Applications are accepted year-round.
Applications submitted by:
- October 25: receive notification by November 1
- April 1: receive notification by April 15
